Caffè Vergnano 1882 Hot Chocolate Instant - White - 15 x 30g

White drinking chocolate, so there is no cocoa powder in it at all — cocoa butter, whey and skimmed milk instead. Sweet, and a different drink from the others rather than a paler one. It contains milk as an ingredient, not merely as a trace.

One 30 g sachet to 100 ml of milk for thick, 150 ml for lighter. Heat gently; white chocolate catches more easily than dark.

Sugar, corn starch, whey powder (milk), skimmed milk powder, cocoa butter, flavourings, salt, emulsifier: E471, thickener: E410, colour: E160b (ii). May contain traces of nuts, eggs, soya.

Caffè Vergnano have been a family house since 1882; the roastery is at Santena, outside Turin. Turin is where Italian drinking chocolate was invented, and the recipe follows that tradition rather than the powdered-cocoa one.

Fifteen sachets of 30 g. Contains milk. May contain traces of nuts, eggs and soya. Store in a cool, dry place, away from strong smells — tea and chocolate both take on whatever is next to them.
