The dark roast Starbucks built their espresso on in 1975. All Arabica, taken far enough that the sugars develop rather than the beans merely darkening.

Rated 10 out of 10 for intensity by the roaster — the top of their scale.

Espresso, short. At this intensity a long pour turns harsh rather than stronger. Heavy enough to hold its shape in a large milk drink, which is what the roast is for.
