Description
The lightest of Vergnano's three new single origins, at intensity 4 out of 10. It is 100% Arabica from the Huila highlands in Colombia, grown at 1,500 to 1,800 metres and washed. The label calls it vibrant and fruity: dark berries and milk chocolate, a bright acidity held in check by a smooth body, and vanilla and almond at the end.
How to use it
Drink this one black to taste the fruit. As espresso, a slightly longer shot keeps the acidity lively without turning sharp; try 18 g in and about 40 g out. It also makes a good filter or cafetière coffee, where the berry notes come through clearly.
Additional information
Slow roasted in Italy to a medium roast by Caffè Vergnano, the family roaster near Turin that has made coffee since 1882. One origin, with nothing blended in. The stamp on the bag shows a hummingbird among hibiscus flowers and palms. Five hundred grams of whole bean. Keep the bag sealed, cool and away from daylight, and once it is open use it within a month.
