Gentile Preserves - Ready Tomato Sauce with Montoro Onions and Basil 320g

Ninety per cent diced tomato, finished with Ravece extra virgin olive oil, Montoro onions and basil. Montoro onions are the flat copper variety grown between Salerno and Avellino, sweet enough to cook down without sugar. The oil in the jar is Ravece, a bitter, herbaceous cultivar from Irpinia that is usually bottled on its own rather than spent on a preserve.

A finished sauce, not a base: heat it and dress the pasta. It also works as the tomato layer in a lasagne or spooned over meat and vegetables.

Gentile have worked at Gragnano, in the hills behind the bay of Naples, since 1876. The preserves come from the same house as the pasta and from the same part of Campania.

Three hundred and twenty grams. Store in a cool, dry place. Once opened, keep refrigerated and use within a few days.
