Four candied chestnuts. Candying chestnuts is the trade Agrimontana began with in 1972, and it is slow work: the sugar has to enter the nut gradually or it collapses.

Eat them as they are, at the end of a meal with coffee. Otherwise crumble them over ice cream or whipped cream, or serve them beside game and cheese, where the sweetness works as a condiment.

Chestnuts, sugar, glucose–fructose syrup, natural Bourbon vanilla extract.

Agrimontana have worked at Borgo San Dalmazzo, at the foot of the Piedmontese Alps, since 1972. They were among the first Italian houses to give up sulphites, and work without colourings, preservatives or synthetic additives.
